Kirk Douglas

Kirk Douglas, born Issur Danielovitch Demsky, has made movies over six decades. He was one of the most popular actors of his generation, and is the father of actor Michael Douglas. In his later years, he survived a helicopter crash that took other lives, and came back from a debilitating stroke to continue his acting career, as well as his new career as an author. He was nominated for two Oscars, and has received lifetime achievement awards from the Academy, the American Film Institute, the Screen Actors Guild, and others.
