HawksleyMaine, U.S.02008-10-02it sure isn't beyond the gates of cinemaswell...this film was alright... i had thought the 3rd one was the last one, but hopefully the 4th is better...1st one was the best though..I'm going to give out a spoiler or two though right now, so beware...it does definitely has it downs (the college party scene, the kissy kissy ending, and you might, just might be able to get one jump out of it). However, the good parts of this was...well, mainly the gore...the blood was pretty good as far as horror films go...the girl who thought she was too fat and the Djinn made her puke her fat out was pretty outstanding effects...i did like that alot..that basically made the film have 2 and a half stars. i just hope the Djinn wins and the gates of hell open up in the 4th one...maybe i could wish it! I did buy this part but the seller did not have it, so I went for a long time without caring to watch it. I was on a horror spending spree and I finally got this film. What a snorefest! I did fall asleep during this movie because it was so friggin boring. The acting was bad, the person who played the Dijin wasnt so great, the gore was decent, and the story sucked. I'm surprised they made a part four after this crapfest.B00005NKSC30A1B4N7NRNRRW2EA1B4N7NRNRRW2EStephen J. CrescenziTrenton, NJ, USA02008-05-29Wismaster 3This is a good movie but not as good as Wishmaster 1 and 2. Still, the plot is similar to the others and quite entertaining. I recommend this to horror lovers.B00005NKSC11A20CH06NU8BYBMA20CH06NU8BYBMBenjamin M. FisherHorror junkieSan Diego12007-03-30Terrible. Even if you like the Wishmaster, this one is tough to watch...Easily the worst of the four Wishmaster films. Andrew Divoff doesn't play the Djinn in 3 and 4 (wisely, I'm afraid) and the film suffers for it. At least he is entertaining to watch even if nothing spectacular happens. It doesn't even seem like they tried at all to make this movie any good. They ignore most of the mythology of the first two movies, and the actors involved are downright awful. Do yourself a favor and pretend they never made this one...B00005NKSC21A1FDTYVKDFHRVSA1FDTYVKDFHRVSdom r.dom domecanada12007-03-30NOT AT ALL ENOUGH FOOTAGE OF THE DJINN DEVILISH MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!What ruined this movie was the fact that the Djinn(who looks like a devilish monster)was only shown for about 8 minutes(or less)throughout this entire 90 minute movie.(I did add up the minutes). And for most of the time, the Djinn was transformed into a blonde guy with beard and mustache that looked SO BORING!!!!!! When I watch a horror movie,I want to see a hideous looking monster for a good amount of time not only for 8 MINUTES or less!!!! Especially of the fact that the Djinn in devilish monster form looks extremely realistic and frightening.Too bad they didnt show much more of him in this hideous form.Im very upset.DescriptionHorror goes to extremes with Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell, the goriest installment of the hit franchise yet. When Diana, a beautiful coed, discovers an ancient gem inside a mystical Persian case, she unwittingly releases the mercilessly evil "Djinn." The gut-slinging demon uses fiendish trickery to take the form of a professor in order to slice, dice and burn his way through the university staff and its students. If he can overpower Diana, his "waker," and grant her three sick and twisted wishes, the very gates of Hell will open up and engulf the world in eternal damnation. With help from the man she loves, she must impale the bloodthirsty demon with a sword from Heaven to save herself and the entire world. BisbeyLifes an adventure smileLos Angeles, CA12009-01-12A different take on most Westerns.Ok this is not your run of the mill Western. But the storyline of the three widows/sister-in-laws and their situation and mishaps, is so different that it worked. This a shoot'em up, action filled ruthless Western with a very dark humorous side. A Little House on the Prairie it is not. More on the lines of Deadwood. But what made this unique was the main story is about three completely different but very determined women, all out of their element. I love watching Westerns, but rarely add them to my collection. This one I purchased. If you loved the series Deadwood I think you will enjoy this one. If you thought Deadwood was too raw you might want to pass on this Western. SpeakerNew Mexico, USA22008-01-13So bad it's painful.I agree with the previous reviewer about everything to do with this movie but especially in wishing I could give it a negative rating. It's far from being even remotely decent.

I recently was stuck watching this movie at a family gathering. The only thing I can think this movie would be good for is either using it as an example of a REALLY bad movie or using this at a "Mystery Science Theatre" party. Frankly that was the only amusing aspect of the viewing experience, as we ended up making fun of the whole thing--that is when I wasn't wishing I could put my eyes out with a sharp stick.

Don't expect to see anyone particularly famous in this. The only one I (barely) recognized was Julia Roberts' abusive husband in "Sleeping with the Enemy" (Patrick Bergin). His character has not improved much in this movie and his attempt at "singing" of the end credit song was so bad I could do nothing but laugh. The acting is....pathetic...IF you can even call it acting by any and all involved. The plot is thin at best and I actually cringed several times due to the absurdity of it all.

Also, be warned, the language is really bad and out of context. I am far away from being easily shocked by foul language in a movie but I was not alone in feeling that it was excessive and completely out of place, especially in a "movie" that claims to be of the western genre. Whatever you do, IF you do end up viewing this wretched movie, I highly recommend you do not allow small children or verbally sensitive folks to watch this.

The only decent part of this movie as far as I'm concerned was the scenery it was filmed around. Clearly it was filmed around San Ysidro, New Mexico which is a lovely area, it's just sad that this movie disgraced its sand.

Save your money and your time and move on to something more worthy.

Some of the scenery was good, but only if you have a large TV. The appearance of ghosts only served to take the movie down another notch. If there were a negative star rating, I'd have given it a minus 3 just for wasting my time. DescriptionDuring the Wild West era, three widows of a recently executed gang of outlaw brothers are forced to flee their homes as they are pursued by a posse of vigilantes and villains seeking the whereabouts of their dead husbands’ buried treasure. On the perilous journey that includes run-ins with Indians, Pinkerton agents, and even a few surly ghosts, they have the opportunity to become better friends if they manage to survive. Ridiculous and extremely confusing plot, stereotypical characters, pitiful screenplay, poorly filmed ... I could go on and on but what would be the use? An example of the pathetic story: Michael Caine and Jason Connery are tossed off a train in the middle of Siberia. After five minutes of walking along the train track they suddenly find themselves in an airport outside a teeming city, where they get the last two seats on an airplane. Then, the airplane runs out of gas and serenely lands in a cow pasture where all the passengers grumpily exit the plane. M. FarmbroughDave FarmbroughWisconsin, USA72002-02-28It's good to have Harry Palmer back!In which a British agent is forcibly retired, comes out of retirement, nearly sleeps with a young Russian agent, does some espionage on a train, meets Burt Kwouk, and saves the world.
The first three Harry Palmer films were very much products of their times in that they were made during the 'cold war' and had much of their action set in Swinging London. They also benefitted from a young Michael Caine establishing himself as a screen star. The new films had to change approach. London now seems to be full of nothing but traffic, the cold war is supposedly over, and Caine's age meant that it became incongruous to have him in exactly the same role he played thirty years earlier.
This situation has been tackled before. Callan, James Bond, and Smiley have all come out of retirement, Glasnost has been tackled well in the later James Bonds, and the emphasis on London is seldom seen these days in British films.
So to some extent Harry Palmer's comeback is a cross between Never Say Never Again and GoldenEye and it all seems a bit familiar. Nevertheless Caine's watchability and charm keep the film moving and the rather slow opening soon gives way to classy chases, set pieces, and so on, all laced with the cynicism and intelligence that characterised the first three movies. The score by Rick Wakeman is good, being based on traditional Russian music, but in places it's inappropriate and undermines the action.
It's a bit of a shame these films weren't made in the 1970s or 1980s as the transition would have been easier, but all in all, it's good to see him back.Amazon.comPoor cold war spy Harry Palmer. After 20 years in exile, he's been resurrected in a lackluster Showtime cable movie. Michael Caine, as brittle and droll as ever, is the main reason to see this fourth flick based on Len Deighton's hapless, and now forcibly retired, secret agent. Harry's been made redundant, and is none too happy about it. When a freelance job falls in his lap, he gratefully accepts the work. The assignment involves a Russian millionaire, nuclear weapons, nasty North Koreans, and a fairly exciting train ride. There are a few decent gags about the spy business, and Jason Connery (Sean's son) shows some merit, but the overly complicated plot is cliché and lacks finesse. They kidnap hitchhikers and ask them to work on their ranch.

Once someone arrives at the ranch,,, they will never leave.

It wasn't your typical horror flick where you can always guess the answer. It wasn't your typical remake of an old horror film.

I dug it. Nice job...
All the best,

Hoboken Hollow is yet another `based on true events' slasher movie that isn't really based on true events, and is just another faded copy of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (I know that Chainsaw is loosely based on Ed Gein as is Psycho. That's as close to true events as this movie comes). This movie is yet another story of hitchhikers being picked up, taken to a farm, tortured and cannibalized. The cops are in on the whole thing (just like Texas Chainsaw) and in the end you end up just not caring.

This movie has some decent actors, like Michael Marsden and Dennis Hopper. They're in it for so few minutes they don't really add any spice to the movie. The acting itself isn't bad for such a movie, and the directing isn't bad, just indifferent. The story itself is tired in most places, and hollow in others. What I mean by that is some of the characters have issues that are mentioned, then never developed or not resolved, or completely ignored. Characters are murdered with little explanation before or after, which leaves the viewer scratching their head. Also, the subplot of Marsden's character wanting to buy the farm isn't developed too much either.

The torture/murder scenes are disturbing and if you enjoy watching those things, it might be worth viewing just for that. They are horrific, perhaps not as much as Hostel, but it's still enough to make the average person turn away in abject disgust. But if you're looking to watch a movie for any reason other than the torture scenes I would make another selection. This movie just isn't that good. Try watching the original Texas Chainsaw or even the remake of The Hills Have Eyes again.

Not recommended because of choppy plot, a recycled story, and uninteresting development of characters.

This movie was better than the reviews. The acting was solid. Should we believe all abductees are returned to earth. I know, from a personal experience, that these beings exist. I got off track. I enjoyed the film and certainly thought it believable. I am unable to find information supporting the movie to be fact-based.B000KF0GT030A1F6Q5Q0U6MS5XA1F6Q5Q0U6MS5XTim F. MartinMadison, AL United States02008-10-22Decent science fiction/horror film based on "true events" _Night Skies_ was a decent enough science fiction film, though I agree with the reviewer Wayne Beckham that the movie is really more horror than science fiction.

The movie claimed that it is based on true events, one event pretty well documented, the other news to me. The documented one was the March 13, 1997 sighting and filming of unidentified lights in the Arizona night sky by thousands of people, a sighting still debated by some to this day. I liked the incorporation of this event into the movie, both the use of actual footage from the sighting and the movie's well done special effects depiction of the lights as seen by the characters in the film. I also liked - and was surprised - by the inclusion in the first few moments of the movie of Senator John McCain being asked in a press conference about the lights, that was well done (and unlike the trickery used to include President Bill Clinton in the movie _Contact_, was using footage directly related to what the movie was about).

The other event, not something I had heard about previously, was the story of a Gulf War veteran, stranded on a backroad in very rural Arizona and the five people in a RV who ran into him. Both vehicles disabled, the soldier and the people in the RV (a married couple, a couple that was engaged, and the sister to one of the men) at first mostly bicker about whose fault it is, try to save the life of the one of the men in the RV who was severely injured in the crash of the RV, and try to get the vehicle repaired to get him to the hospital. Soon however it becomes clear that there is something in the woods, something sinister, one that can play tricks with their minds, make them see things that aren't there, and one by one try to pick off and abduct the various members of this thrown-together group.

The feeling of the film - the briefly glimpsed aliens, people and things suddenly appearing behind people, the rustling in the brush, the screaming, the running, and yes some of the blood - had more in common with a horror movie than a typical science fiction movie (not that that is a bad thing). The alien's motivations were sinister, to abduct the humans (causing maximum terror while doing it, naturally) and them probe them horrifically in their spaceship (which was suitable creepy and organic and gooey in make-up).

Not a bad film I guess, I would rate is as good as some of the best of the much improved Sci Fi Saturday night movies of the week. The alien make up was pretty well done, the lights in the sky were very eerie, and I will admit it, one of the girls, the sister, was very good-looking (Ashley Peldon was the actress's name, playing the character Molly). While her character was not particularly deep she was not unpleasant to look at. Overall though the acting was adequate, nothing spectacular though not awful either. I didn't like the way the opening credits were done, a diced-up montage in almost slow motion of a horror scene from later in the movie, it made the film feel to me at least cheaper and more poorly done than it really was. Production values were not bad and if alien abduction movies are your thing (or the _X-Files_) I would say give it a look. B000KF0GT020A1H0CWFQY2HFGGA1H0CWFQY2HFGGBud BundyB movie loverMN USA02008-09-23Fair movie with a crummy endingSome kids are driving in an RV on some back roads. They notice some lights in the sky, then they crash into a pickup truck that's parked next to the road. One guy falls on a knife that was lying on the floor. Luckily the guy who was driving the pickup knows some first aid, and fixes him up using super glue. Yeah, he probably hasn't got long to live, LOL. Everybody else is pretty unconcerned with their mortally wounded "friend", and spend most of the movie discussing their relationship problems. Then some aliens start...appearing. They might as well be Bigfoot or maybe even mind-controlling evil trolls, it doesn't really matter. It's not like they do anything "alien" to these people other than terrorize them a bit. Kind of funny actually, they can travel all the way here from another planet yet they can't break through the door on an RV.

After a somewhat exciting scene with the RV being attacked by something from outside, we move on to the next part of the movie - I won't spoil it - but suffice it to say I was expecting another ten or fifteen minutes before the movie eventually built to its climax. Instead, it just ended. Yup, roll credits, we're done here. What happened to half the characters? Don't know, we're through, wrap it up already.

The characters were mildly interesting, the plot was fairly disappointing because it relied on people getting confused (or maybe their minds were being controlled?). Eh, doesn't really matter I guess. Overall, I've seen much worse, but that doesn't mean this thing is especially good either. Good for a boring Tuesday night when you're not really expecting anything too exciting anyway.B000KF0GT040A26WCMVC0U2787A26WCMVC0U2787Truth Seeker02008-09-10Watch the Night SkiesThis is an excellent 'B' movie.
Some friends are on a cross-country trip when a tire blows out and they are stranded on the road. One of the friends is badly wounded by a falling knife and is in critical condition. A passer by stops to help them and turns out to be an ex soldier with medica training(yeah Right). All is going well until they try to find the locals in the forest and are attacked by none other than giant-black eyed, Gray, skinny aliens. They run back to the RV and wait in there for morning. After several shocks and jump-in-your seats. they decide to fight back and end up getting. Eventually they are all Abducted and awake up in a strange organic enviroment and find themselves being studied and not inh the good way. The story ends there.

On one desolate road, six strangers had a particularly harrowing experience with what became known as the "Phoenix Lights." Inspired by real events, Night Skies utilizes actual transcripts from witness hypnotherapy sessions to examine what happened to those six, and to reveal the greater truth behind one infamous night. Cook (Final Destination 2) and George Stults (TV's 7th Heaven) star in this film.B0002V7O3SFire in the SkyB000JLQPYUAlteredB001JNNDJMMirrorsB000LXH0AODecoys - The Second SeductionB0002J4X3ODecoys163442General163431Science Fiction & Fantasy404276Genres130DVD139452Video418422Connery, Jason416120( C )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video421086Dorn, Michael419544( D )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video441080Peldon, Ashley440340( P )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video573628All Sony Pictures Titles516494Sony Pictures Home Entertainment468374Studio Specials251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video579538( N )579510Titles251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video387546011DVD387545011Format (binding)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video390121011Widescreen390118011Picture Format (format)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video405388011R405383011MPAA Rating (feature_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video5620920112000 & Newer562084011Decade (feature_three_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video617866011English598208011Original Language (theme_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video603123011Closed Caption603112011Special Editions (feature_four_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video603113011Dolby603112011Special Editions (feature_four_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video671505011Standard Edition603112011Special Editions (feature_four_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video643791011Grade Level (feature_five_browse-bin)643792011Preschool643793011Kindergarten643794011Elementary School643800011Middle & High School643808011College643809011Post-Graduate386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video671508011Dolby671506011Audio Type (feature_six_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452VideoR1UPDS60O2MR8Aliens and Robots my favorite Sci-Fi films Good or Bad: PART 1R1JPPHWMX7GZLJUFO and Alien Movies

I have been using them in my second grade classroom to introduce the AMerican Revolution to my students. I find them to be a great way to do this. They present what can be a very confusing topic in an easy to understand, kid friendly way. I find that the children love the theme song. The show also pauses briefly at particularly exciting parts and shows a "frozen photograph" of the scene with some suspenseful music, before continuing. It's very effective. My students, who claim to be "too big for cartoons" groaned today when I had to stop it because we had to go somewhere and begged "are we going to get to see the end?" Pretty good endorsement!B0002F6AV644A98LTNX26JEFPA98LTNX26JEFPqqviewer231qqviewer231Anywhere, USA42005-07-08Extras are included on 1, maybe all 3Despite what the previous reviewer said about all 3 DVDs in this series, I purchased Give Me Liberty at a store and it included all the Continental Cartoons, Biographies, Now and Then extra features. You just had to look for them in the Bonus menu.

While I can't prove it, I suspect all these bonus features are also on the Boston Tea Party DVD as well, but seperated out as Bonus Features. That is a standard way DVDs are set up, as opposed to how tv shows are broadcast.B0002F6AV62102A1SN1URHER01NFA1SN1URHER01NFJames L. FarmerFort Mitchell, Kentucky United States1062004-09-07FABULOUS show..........but the DVD collections turned out to be horribly disappointing. My rating is not directed at the show. It is directed at the DVD series itself. Someone really dropped the ball on what could have been a fabulous dvd collection.

So far there are Volumes 1, 2 & 3. Each volume includes five "playing cards" of George Washington, Phyllis Wheatly, Abigail Adams, John Paul Jones & Ben Franklin. This is a fabulous idea..BUT the problem is that the five playing cards are all the same in each volume. So now my daughter has three sets of the same cards. This makes absolutely no sense...

As far as the episodes, each DVD Volume includes three episode but the episodes are not set up the way they are on television. The episodes cut out the "Liberty News", "Now & Then" & "Continental Cartoons". Not having them including in each episode takes away from the show. Instead of having them in the show the way they should be, they are included as bonus features.....And the Continental Cartoons segment where you "Guess This Person". You have to use the DVD remote to access the three clues....But the problem I am having is this "game" doesn't work correctly and out of the three clues, I can only access the first one. Leaving the other two clues inaccessible.....?

VOLUME 1 - The Boston Tea Party (The Movie)

This DVD included episodes The Boston Tea Party, The Intolerable Act & Shot Heard Round the World. There is no "closing credits" to the first episode, no "intro & closing credits" to the second episode and no "intro" to the third episode. All three episodes run together like a "movie". And of course do not include the Continental Cartoons, Liberty News & Now & Then.

VOLUME 2 - Give Me Liberty

This DVD includes episodes Liberty or Death, Common Sense & Not Yet Begun To Fight. These episodes were not set up like a "movie" such as the first volume. And each episode actually has the introduction and closing credits for all three episodes. But or course it lacks the Continental Cartoons, Liberty News & Now & Then.

VOLUME 3 - The First Fourth of July

This dvd includes The First Fourth of July, New York, New York & One Life To Live. All episodes are set up the same way as Volume 2. But the problem with Volume 3 is that somewhere between Volume 2 & Volume 3, other Liberty's Kids episodes are missing. I have no idea how many they skipped going from Volume 2 to Volume 3. That BIG flaw prompted me to write a review of this DVD collection...For Shame DIC. The Liberty's Kids series deserves far better then what you have done with it in the DVD collection...

General Mills cerel came with a free DVD of two Liberty's Kids episodes. The Midnight Ride & The Turtle. BOTH of these episodes were issued on the DVD the way that they were televised on TV. Both episodes had the Continental Cartoons, Liberty's News & Now & Then. Which should have been the case with these volumes but was not. Where is the COMMON SENSE DIC.
DescriptionIt's the dead of night in Boston Harbor and our intrepid reporters, Sarah and James, spot colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians sneaking aboard British ships and dumping tons of tea overboard. This act of defiance against the British authority is a defining moment of the American Revolution. It's then on to Lexington and Concord, where citizens calling themselves "Minutemen" take up arms against the powerful, experienced British army of "redcoats." Outnumbered and outgunned, the Minutemen refuse to back down, and soon the evening's silence is shattered by the "shot heard around the world." On the village green in Lexington, the first shot of the Revolutionary War has just been fired!B0002F6AVGLiberty's Kids - Give Me LibertyB0002F6AUMLiberty's Kids - The First Fourth of JulyB00006ELM9Liberty's KidsB000NP8HQ6Liberty's Kids: The First 4th of July (Readers Digest Young Families series)B001B73PO4Liberty's Kids: Complete Series163306General163296Action & Adventure404276Genres130DVD139452Video712258General712256Animation404276Genres130DVD139452Video163390General163379Drama404276Genres130DVD139452Video722754011General AAS291513Television163379Drama404276Genres130DVD139452Video163417General163414Kids & Family404276Genres130DVD139452Video163416Animation163414Kids & Family404276Genres130DVD139452Video300399Drama163414Kids & Family404276Genres130DVD139452Video595062Family Films163414Kids & Family404276Genres130DVD139452Video722771011General AAS300365Television163414Kids & Family404276Genres130DVD139452Video923878General512030Mystery & Suspense404276Genres130DVD139452Video292287Mystery512030Mystery & Suspense404276Genres130DVD139452Video418422Connery, Jason416120( C )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video428538Horse, Michael426368( H )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video579534( L )579510Titles251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video387546011DVD387545011Format (binding)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video5620920112000 & Newer562084011Decade (feature_three_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video617866011English598208011Original Language (theme_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video671505011Standard Edition603112011Special Editions (feature_four_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video643791011Grade Level (feature_five_browse-bin)643792011Preschool643793011Kindergarten643794011Elementary School643800011Middle & High School643808011College643809011Post-Graduate386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video671506011Audio Type (feature_six_browse-bin)671507011Digital Sound671508011Dolby671509011Surround Sound386709011Refinements130DVD139452VideoR1GBUC0VQHM2O3The American Revolution on DVD2NVC96PN6972QAin't That AmericaBDIA2CSJYEFPAmerica in Revolution

Kennedy02009-03-24WONDERFULLY AWESOME!As a 5th and 6th grade social studies teacher, I find this video series excellent. It has all of the accurate, historical information the students are required to learn and includes a perfect amount of entertainment value to keep their interest. This is the first and only historical video series I have found that has very few flaws; thus, there's nothing for me to counter in the classroom-I can simply allow the videos to play as they are written. I recommend this series for any elementary social studies teacher.B0002F6AVG56A98LTNX26JEFPA98LTNX26JEFPqqviewer231qqviewer231Anywhere, USA92005-07-08All the bonus items hereDespite what the previous reviewer said, I own this DVD and it has all the extra features (Now and Then, Liberty News, Biographies, etc., etc.) included as bonus DVD features in a seperate listing - not in the body of the tv episodes themselves. Since the previous reviewer didn't see them their, he assumed they were taken out of the DVD & he got cheated. This is not true. I watched the bonuses myself today.B0002F6AVG54A1IVQQB7AAI5G9A1IVQQB7AAI5G9Brandon Goodworth62005-06-06I love the seriesthe cartoons keep my kids and my wife and I always interested. FarmerFort Mitchell, Kentucky United States442004-09-07FABULOUS Show.............but the DVD collections turned out to be horribly disappointing.

DescriptionIt's a harrowing trip through the colonies of the Commonwealth of Virginia for Sarah and James. Arriving in Virginia, their spirits are lifted when they witness Patrick Henry's famous declaration, "Give me liberty or give me death." Their incredible adventure continues as Sarah reluctantly sets sail to her native England, only to be rescued at sea by the great naval commander, John Paul Jones. When Jones' ship takes on water in a battle against the powerful British Navy, the British Captain demands their surrender. Sarah watches with admiration as the courageous Hones responds with his famous words, "I have not yet begun to fight."B0002F6AUMLiberty's Kids - The First Fourth of JulyB0002F6AV6Liberty's Kids - The Boston Tea Party (Vol. 1)B000NP8HQ6Liberty's Kids: The First 4th of July (Readers Digest Young Families series)B000K6VXVYLiberty's Kids: We The People (Reader's Digest Young Families Series) (DVD)B000UZJW54Born Free and Equal Dvd! The acting is beyond bad, the production and direction isn't any better - yet I couldn't stop watching it. I just wanted to make sure Glenn Ford (73 years old at the time this film was made) & Donald Pleasance (who was 70 at the time)couldn't add a little dignity to this dog of a film - they didn't. Which begs the question why did these two veteran actors lower themselves to such a horrible film? A. They 'really' needed the money OR B. They owed a big favor to the two main actor's daddy's (those famous dads being Sean Connery and Anthony Quinn). Unless you've got 90 minutes of your life you really don't care about stay away from this unbelievably bad movie.
However, there is one bright spot - this film really does remind me of the spaghetti westerns than Clint Eastwood starred in or even more like the film `They call me Trinity.' Those films were made in the early 1960's and this dog was made in 1989 which makes it a little interesting that there are still directors who still don't know how to make a film.
B0000A03KG17APLCMS8A6WBN9APLCMS8A6WBN9Reader011129erSavoyAnaheim, California72005-08-03Well, I almost got through the whole thingThis movie is a very good example of something that should have been allowed to rot in the can! I'm a fan of classic movies being transferred to DVD, if for no other reason to preserve them. But this was a waste of money when it was made, and it's a waste of money on DVD. Extremely poor story line, extremely poor acting, production quality on the film is so bad that you will wonder if there is a hidden fan on right next to your head.

I'm embarrassed to say that I couldn't think of anything good to say about this production.B0000A03KG34A1U6B2LDK3BUVUA1U6B2LDK3BUVULFKeep your feedback to yourself, these are my opinions, not yoursUSA52005-07-10Good action filmThe premise is that Winston Churchill is traveling through North Africa on his way to Casablanca and he will be the target of a Nazi kidnap or murder attempt. It is up to our hero Cooper, his trusty assistant Franchetti, and his girlfriend and co-agent Lora, to foil the Nazis and deliver Churchill safely.

One of the villains of the piece is the French traitor who proudly defends his treason by stating that Vichy France is part of the Nazi empire. Then of course there are some Nazi villains to fight.

The film was intelligently and interestingly done. It even gets just a little bit controversial, when Churchill explains to the American general that while it is true that he had advance knowledge of the Pearl Harbor attack, he was not to blame for the massacre at Pearl Harbor because he had informed President Roosevelt about it in advance (and Roosevelt supposedly didn't find it credible, though that excuse for FDR is itself incredible). The general answers that he would prefer not to believe that Roosevelt knew about it in advance.

With Glenn Ford in the cast, along with the sons of Anthony Quinn and Sean Connery, you would expect a professionally done film, and you get one.

The female lead is very good. She uses her sex appeal to help the cause, and after being rescued from a German soldier's embrace (on the floor) she placidly tells her boyfriend Cooper that if he had rescued her a little later she would be starting a family.

This wasn't meant to be the finest film of all time. It was meant to be an interesting action flick, and it achieved that goal.

My only complaint is that the characters were too handsome. Such is Hollywood. I really don't think that heroes have to look like Brad Pitt or Jason Connery. Why can't we have an ugly hero now and then, or for that matter, just a regular guy and not a Playgirl pinup.B0000A03KG218A3875KWK1PXG7IA3875KWK1PXG7IRobert HugginsSuburban Philadelphia, PA United States182001-12-17Middling World War II Action-AdventureBy no means is "Casablanca Express" a great movie, but it is passable entertainment if you're not too discriminating and can accept some lapses in logic. Jason (son of Sean) Connery and Francesco (son of Anthony) Quinn are assigned to protect Winston Churchill who's travelling through North Africa on the Casablanca Express during World War II. The Germans are tipped off about Churchill's presence on the train and soon paratroopers capture the train and Churchill. It's up to Connery and Quinn (and the comely female agent Lorna) to rescue Mr. Churchill. Glenn Ford and Donald Pleasence have extended cameos as members of the Allied military brass in this European production. "Casablanca Express" makes a nice companion film to the superior "The Eagle Has Landed," wherein a team of German commandos attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Churchill on English soil.
The DVD, from Front Row, is another one of their budget releases, so don't expect too much. There are chapter breaks and biographies/filmographies for Connery and Pleasence, though the filmography for Pleasence, a prolific film actor, is missing many of his films. The film is presented full screen and the transfer, while not great, is acceptable for a budget release. The bottom line on "Casablanca Express" is that it's a fair time passer if you're not too demanding.DescriptionOn the eighth of November 1942, Winston Churchill and his double are passengers aboard a British airplane destined for Casablanca, but it is intercepted by German bomber and forced to land in Algiers.A special train know as the Casablanca Express is hastily perpared to transport them overland to Casablanca. The Nazis discover the plan, and the train is captured in a daring commando raid. While Churchill makes it safely though to Casablanca, hisdouble remains aboard the train as a decoy. The Allies perpare a counther move and entrust Captain Al Cooper(Jason Connery) with ths difficult task of freeing the man whom the Nazis Believe to be the real Prime Minister. Although the operation cost the lives of many men, suspicions of the German Commend must not be aroused... the Allied plan must to be carried out to the end!B00097E6SGFrom Hell to VictoryB00005OSK7Mission to DeathB000MTFFRMPlay DirtyB0001DMXLKThey Raid by NightB001U6YIA6Northwest Frontier163306General163296Action & Adventure404276Genres130DVD139452Video163304Crime163296Action & Adventure404276Genres130DVD139452Video722739011General AAS284931Italy284926By Country163313Art House & International404276Genres130DVD139452Video163390General163379Drama404276Genres130DVD139452Video290935Adventure163414Kids & Family404276Genres130DVD139452Video909816Nazis909814By Theme586156Military & War404276Genres130DVD139452Video722787011General AAS541980Crime512030Mystery & Suspense404276Genres130DVD139452Video418422Connery, Jason416120( C )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video423476Ford, Glenn422476( F )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video441804Pleasence, Donald440340( P )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video442548Quinn, Francesco442450( Q )404278Actors & Actresses251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video459628Martino, Sergio459370( M )403502Directors251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video355728011Italy355719011European Cinema355667011Foreign & International251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video901598Action & Adventure901596Independently Distributed251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video579516( C )579510Titles251273011Custom Stores44261011Specialty Stores130DVD139452Video387546011DVD387545011Format (binding)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video405384011Unrated405383011MPAA Rating (feature_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video405391011US & CA DVDs: Region 1405390011Region (feature_two_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video5620900111980 - 1989562084011Decade (feature_three_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video617866011English598208011Original Language (theme_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video603113011Dolby603112011Special Editions (feature_four_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video671505011Standard Edition603112011Special Editions (feature_four_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video643791011Grade Level (feature_five_browse-bin)643792011Preschool643793011Kindergarten643794011Elementary School643800011Middle & High School643808011College643809011Post-Graduate386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video671508011Dolby671506011Audio Type (feature_six_browse-bin)386709011Refinements130DVD139452Video3O3L3V88K7M9JFilms with the word "Express" in their titles
