GoldenEye is the 17th James Bond film and the first to star Pierce Brosnan in the role as the British secret agent. The film follows Bond as he battles to prevent an arms syndicate from using the GoldenEye satellite weapon against London. It is an original screenplay (not based on a work by Ian Fleming) conceived and written by Michael France, although refinements were made by several other writers.
